GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this fantastic 1974 Jaguar XKE for your consideration. The XKE, commonly referred to as the Jaguar E-Type, was powered by a 5.3L V12 motor that was equipped with quad Zenith carburetors and produced plenty of horsepower. The third generation E-Type (1971-1974) was longer than the two previous generations and with a total weight of just over 3,300lbs the V12 motor could power this beautiful British roadster to 60mph from zero in just under six seconds. Mated to the 5.3L V12 is a 4-speed manual transmission that loves to be thrown between gears. This is a fantastic driving vehicle that provides an experience not like any other.
As previously mentioned the third generation E-Type used a longer wheelbase that offered more interior room. The Series 3 is recognizable by its large front grille, flared fenders, and V12 rear badge. The car is finished in Regency Red and is fitted with a folding black soft top and matching boot cover. Additional exterior equipment includes an SS center outlet exhaust system, knock-off wire wheels, louvered hood, and US-spec bumper guards.
The interior is trimmed in Biscuit upholstery along with matching carpet and black rubber floor mats. A leather-wrapped steering wheel is located in front of the Smiths gauges. The seat cushions were recently replaced to make for a comfortable driving experience.
This example comes to us out of 18 years of ownership. There is documentation showing the body, engine, and transmission number along with the original build date of April 2, 1974. Also accompanying the car is a photocopy of the original options list that show four wheel independent suspension, four wheel disc brakes, synchromesh transmission, electric wipers, adjustable steering column, and plenty more. This example was originally distributed by Quality Motors, INC. of Triangle, Virginia in 1974 for a list price of ,518. Not only is this a quality documented vehicle that remains in a highly original condition it also has received recent maintenance to keep it performing well. A Denso alternator system was recently installed along with a new windshield, rack and pinion steering system, and radiator.
From 1961 to 1974, the E-type dominated the sports car market with high performance and amazing style. It's featured on many lists of top cars of all time. The New York Museum of Modern Art recognized the significance of the styling of the XKE with a display of a roadster (one of just six vehicles to ever earn the distinction). These cars are red hot in the collector car world and values continue to soar. Quality original examples such as this are extremely hard to come by and offer many options for the next owner as a collectible or regularly driven example. Please call or email with any questions or for additional information.
