Patrick Mazeika is a catcher for the New York Mets.
Mazeika was selected by the New York Mets in the eighth round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Stetson University. Mazeika graduated from Salisbury High School in Connecticut in 2012 and helped lead the Knights to the Western New England Prep Baseball League Championship in 2012. Salisbury went 33-0 during his senior campaign.
In 2015, Mazeika led the Appalachian League in doubles and on-base percentage, ranked second in batting, RBI, hits and extra-base hits. He was also ranked third in slugging percentage and fourth in total bases. He hit .354 with 80 hits including 27 doubles in 226 at-bats. He also scored 44 runs for Kingsport and had a .540 slugging percentage.
The 2015 eighth-round pick batted .305 in 70 games with Class A Columbia in 2016. However, with St. Lucie in 2017, he hit .287/.389/.406 with 21 doubles while spending 76 games behind the plate, 12 at first base and 12 as a designated hitter. In 100 games, he hit 7 homeruns, 21 doubles and 50 RBI's to finish the season with a .406 slugging percentage.
On May 5th, 2021, Mazeika was recalled to the majors after Brandon Nimmo was placed on the injured list. Mazeika made his MLB debut that day as a pinch hitter for Miguel Castro, grounding out to St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt in his only at-bat. On May 7th, 2021, in only his second at bat in the big leagues, Mazeika was the hero in the bottom of the 10th inning during a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. With the bases loaded, he hit into a fielder's choice, bringing Pete Alonso at third base home. It was his first walk-off RBI, as well as his first RBI in the MLB. The Mets won the game 5–4, their biggest come from behind win of the season.
On Tuesday, May 11th 2021 for the second time in four games, Mazeika hit a walk-off ground ball, this time to beat the Orioles, 3-2, at Citi Field. Once again, Mazeika’s Mets teammates mobbed him on the field, ripping off his jersey.
The featured size 11.5 blue and red Under Armour Cleats were game worn by Patrick Mazeika in 2019 as a member of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. The
Binghamton Rumble Ponies are the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets major-league club. The Rumble Ponies play in the Eastern League and play their home games at NYSEG Stadium, located in Binghamton.
The talented catcher has signed the cleats and added "Game Worn 2019" in silver. Mazeika's initials "PM" are embroidered on the tongue of each cleat. The cleats show great use!
