    Description

Charlotte was selected to provide feeder support for Pan American’s international services out of
    Washington’s Dulles Airport.
    Cachets were not authorized.
    The Washington
Dulles Airport Mail Facility did properly dispatch southbound covers September 30 on the Pan American Boeing
727 inaugural flight. Through error these covers ended up in Raleigh and received a September 30
    Raleigh backstamp.
    This cover was one of
    only 52 pieces of mail
carried on the inaugural Pan American flight from the Washington Dulles Airport Mail Facility to Charlotte, North Carolina (and was backstamped in Raleigh)
    and
is listed in The American Air Mail Catalogue as PA-D60Sf.
