For auction is a very nice and possibly very unusual old vintage fishing rod. I already know it's "hard to find" - I cannot find another one anywhere. Anyways, this is a red, two-piece fiberglass fishing rod with a Heddon foil/paper label on it, and the printed marking "7616  5'." It appears to be in unfished condition - what looks like an old original price tag still attached, with a very faded "51   64" at the top and a price of .50 at the bottom; I see absolutely no wear or use on the rod or eyes; I have gone over the cork handle with a glass and see no signs of a reel ever being seated. Only condition issue is some wear to the lower plastic butt protector cap, could happen from years of being moved around or stored. The one odd thing to me, is that I think there should be another eye wrapped on the upper part, like just above the ferrule fittings - seems a long way to go from lower eye up to that next one, but maybe that's what they wanted. Again, no sign that an eye ever existed there. Discussion - I cannot find another example of this rod anywhere, period, I have looked. It has some similarities to Heddon's old Pal series rods - some came in red glass, similar style cork, similar style metal reel seat rings. Is it a trade-made rod? I doubt seriously anyone would take the time to counterfeit a glass rod. Anyways, I guess if you can identify it, you win. Please see pics for details. Any other questions, just ask.
